The Pipeline of Potential – Report launch

  • Russell McVeagh Level 24 NTT Tower 157 Lambton Quay (map)

The Institute for Democratic and Economic Analysis (IDEA) is releasing its first research project: a deep dive into welfare-to-work policy. This major report looks at how Aotearoa New Zealand can better connect employers seeking staff with beneficiaries seeking paid work – building a pipeline of talent for Kiwi firms while reshaping lives and economic opportunities.

About IDEA

IDEA is a new and politically independent think-tank that develops evidence-based solutions to the interconnected problems of poverty and political exclusion. We seek to foster an open and robust public debate on these issues, and help decision-makers across the political spectrum understand the solutions.

Our First Research Project – Welfare-to-Work Policy

Our report, The Pipeline of Potential, looks at how we could transform the support we offer to unemployed people seeking paid work, simultaneously lifting their prospects and boosting the wider economy. IDEA research director Max Rashbrooke has been researching global best practice, talking to policy-makers, and hearing from jobseekers and service providers. Opening up new perspectives on a long-neglected policy area, his recommendations outline investments in training and work programmes that could change lives and constitute a key building block for a more robust economy.

Light breakfast with refreshments will be served. Attendees: Media, politicians, industry specialists and other key stakeholders. Please RSVP for this free event here by Friday 18th July to help us with catering. You are welcome to register more than one person.
