IDEA’s second Forum event for 2026 looks at domestic industries.

As geopolitical conflict intensifies and supply chains come under threat, nations are increasingly looking to (re)develop local industries. Call it building economic resilience, on-shoring or industrial policy: it's back in vogue. But does this offer safety in troubled times – or risk being Think Big Mark II? Come hear three leading analysts discuss one of the biggest issues of the moment. The Forum will also serve as the launch of an essay, ‘The Difficult Return of Industrial Policy’, by London School of Economics professor (and expat Kiwi) Robert Wade.
